Day Six Of My Weekly Blogs

A darkroom is a room that can be made completely dark to allow the processing of light-sensitive photographic materials, including film and photographic paper. Different types of image files and formats work better in different situations. JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), is commonly used it. It is lossy which means the information you put is lost when you convert it to this format but it does a good job of maintaining the quality and the information. You can use JPEG when you need to maintain a lot of color if you’re planning to print and view online and it also requires smaller file sizes. PNG ( Portable Network Graphics) transparency makes up for large files and lack of print suitability. The pros of this system are that it supports 8 bits of transparency and it’s developed specifically for the web so it’s good for use online and it is lossless meaning you don’t lose anything. You can use a PNG when you’re after transparency, when you need to maintain quality, and when size isn’t an issue.

GIF (Graphics Interchange Format), is limited to an 8-bit palette but it is great for animated images. The pros of this web are that it is great for animation, supports transparency and it also supports interlacing. The cons are that it destroys color variation. You can use GIF when your image uses one or a few colors only, or when you need it or move. Tiff (Tagged Image File Format), it was developed mainly for desktop publishing. It stores every single piece of information that you scan. It also supports layers. You can use this web when scanning real images to preserve their quality, and file sizes aren’t an issue. Moving forward, resolution is how much clarity or detail is in an image. If images are going to be destined for print people talk about resolution in dots per inch or pixels per inch. Lightroom offers powerful tools for editing, organizing, sharing, and storing photos. Lightroom is also a cloud-centric ecosystem that gives you multiple surfaces on which to view and work with your photos.
